The best known species of Rat is the Brown Rat (Rattus Norvegicus) and the Black Rat (Rattus Rattus). This group, generally known as the Old World Rats originated in Asia.
Brown Rats can adapt to pretty much any environment and are omnivorous. They often live with and near to humans.
Rats can carry nasty diseases, which they can spread to humans, normally through their urine, including:
-
Weils Disease.
-
Salmonella.

The Brown Rat can reproduce every 21 days with an average litter size of 6; therefore it is extremely important not to leave the problem! Rats need access to Food, Water and Shelter in order to thrive.
If you hear scratching, find Rat droppings or see the Rats themselves, it is best to get it taken care of as soon as possible to prevent further issues.
